The countdown has been going on for a while, and as of today we are just a week away from Mobility Field Day 3. MFD3 will run September 12-14, 2018 and will come at you via livestream and twitter. The week where some of the old guard, and some of the up and coming, wireless companies will share exciting things coming down the pipe and to a network near you.
While it is somewhat disappointing that PtP/PtMP companies like Siklu and Mimosa couldn’t be with us, the biggest absence IMO in the WLAN space is probably from Ubiquiti. I know there has been a great deal of interest in Ubiquiti’s portfolio and where they’re going, so maybe with enough prodding from everyone in the community we can get them to participate in MFD4. Yes, that’s right I’m already seeding the thoughts for the next MFD because we all know that you can never have enough wireless info. Hint, Hint Stephen & Tom 🙂
Personally, I’m most looking forward to seeing the plans for Arista Networks and how they plan to integrate and expand their wireless solution (Mojo Networks) into their portfolio. It’s always exciting to see where these acquisitions take us, even if it takes several months for plans to be fully revealed. My second interest is to see what Mist has up their sleeves. They’ve been taunting us with tweets over the last few weeks about something new they’re going to announce during MFD3. What that is….only a few people outside of Fort Knox know, but it has to be something awesome. Along with these two companies, we’ll also see the likes of Aruba, Cisco, Fortinet, NETSCOUT, & Nyansa. Surely something in that lineup of WLAN stars will perk your interest and see you tuning in.
Well ok, I’m sorry that I didn’t share anything super, uber, classified and you’re probably thinking some sneak peek this was. But hey, look at all the little tidbits I threw out there. You can’t expect me to spoil the surprises, so you’ll just have to tune in next week! This will be my first (and hopefully not my last) MFD to attend as a delegate, so I’m excited to be able to share the week with everyone across the globe via the livestream as well as my fellow delegates. During the presentations, many of us will be live on twitter so if you have questions, feel free to tweet @ any of us delegates or use the hashtag #MFD3. We’ll be glad to ask the questions for you of the presenters to make sure (time allowed) that you get answers! If you are looking for more info on MFD3, including the schedule of presentations for the week and the livestream once the events start next week, head over to the MFD3 page here https://techfieldday.com/event/mfd3/.
